WUKY's Grapevine Events Are Coming
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 20, 2010) - The entertainment has been announced for WUKY’s 2010 Heard It Through The Grapevine fundraising event at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the Hilton Lexington/Downtown. This year’s lineup includes Kingsized, a 12-piece band with horns and dancers; the Faux Frenchmen, a hip fusion of classical funk and jazz; R.C. Smith on the saxophone with a vocalist; Dave Dansereau playing his piano on multiple floors; and the Rock and Roll All Stars, the best of Lexington’s live, local musicians. Grapevine also will feature talented cartoonist Niah Stout to sketch caricatures of attendees and create a mural onsite with the theme of Luscious Lunacy.
WUKY, 91.3 FM, is the University of Kentucky's listener-supported public radio station.
General admission tickets are available for $85, and VIP tickets are $120. All tickets can be purchased by contacting WUKY at (859) 257-3221 or on its Web site at www.wuky.edu. General admission tickets also are available at Joseph Beth Booksellers and Magee’s Bakery. Admission at the door is $100.
Tickets also are available to the companion event, the Winemaker Dinner, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Hilary J. Boone Center on the University of Kentucky campus. The event, co-hosted by WUKY and Kentucky Proud, will feature Executive Chef Michael Paley of Louisville’s Proof on Main. Paley’s culinary styling has been featured in publications including Food and Wine magazine, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, Food Arts magazine, Southern Living, The New York Times and the Chicago Tribune.
"This will be a lively evening of extraordinary food and wine," said Gail Bennett, WUKY's marketing and development director. "In addition to watching Chef Paley up close and personal, guests will have a 'window' into the kitchen via wide screen television as local chefs and Sullivan University culinary students prepare the meal."
Winemaker Dinner tickets can only be purchased through WUKY for $135. Combination tickets for Grapevine and Winemaker dinner are available for $200, which provides seating at the Winemaker’s Dinner and general admission to Grapevine or $225 for seating at the Winemaker’s Dinner and VIP admission to Grapevine.
