UK Educators Join Livestreamed Panel Discussion of Kentucky Education During a Pandemic
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 31, 2020) — An administrator and a faculty member from the University of Kentucky will join other experts in a panel discussion about education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Titled “Learning Curve: Navigating Education Access in a Pandemic,” the livestreamed discussion is offered by the Lexington Herald-Leader at 12:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 1. UK Associate Provost for Academic and Student Affairs Kirsten Turner and Associate Professor Lu Young of the UK College of Education and current chair of the Kentucky Board of Education will sit on the panel.
They join Gov. Andy Beshear; Bluegrass Community and Technical College President Koffi Akakpo; Council on Postsecondary Education President Aaron Thompson; Julian Tackett, executive director of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association; and Eddie Campbell, president of the Kentucky Education Association and a high school choir director in the Knox County Schools.
The Herald-Leader says the discussion will focus on the dilemmas of educating children in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. The panelists will help viewers understand efforts to keep students safe and on track academically, athletically and emotionally in K-12 schools and in colleges and universities.
