Job Shadow With a Company in Your Field and Explore Your Future Career
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 26, 2021) — Would you like a sneak peek into your career field? Consider job shadowing.

Time Commitment: Typically, four to eight hours in-person. Upon selection, University of Kentucky students will be connected to employers for job shadowing opportunities occurring between November 2021 and February 2022.
Requirements: Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply. There are no specific class requirements for this experience. Just come prepared with questions and the Stuckert Career Center will help you prep.
Job Shadowing activities provided by employers may include:
- Providing a tour of the facility or office space
- Inviting you to observe meetings, conference calls or other events
- Shadowing client interactions
- Providing an overview of the organization’s mission, vision and organization
- Sharing career history and industry trends
- Arranging informational interviews for the student with colleagues
- Discussing your career interests and questions
- Reviewing your resume, LinkedIn profile, and other professional documents
- Providing a mini-internship or volunteer experience at the organization, including completing small tasks or assisting with projects
- Exploring potential career paths within the organization and the profession
How this works: Students and employers will be matched accordingly to:
- Preferred industry type (aerospace, consulting, government, real estate, nonprofits, etc.)
- Preferred job type (accounting, contracts, finance, human resources, marketing, engineering, etc.)
- Preferred majors
