LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 7, 2023) — Students with a valid University of Kentucky parking permit who wish to leave their vehicles on campus over Winter Break can take advantage of a free holiday parking pass from UK Transportation Services.

Students who request a holiday pass will be able to leave their vehicles in Cornerstone Garage (PS #5) — on levels four and above — over the break.

These free passes are available now at the UK Transportation Services’ Customer Service Center, located in the Press Avenue Garage (PS #6). The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

If you wish to use a holiday pass, please be prepared to show your student ID and to confirm the make, model and license plate number of your vehicle. These passes are available to all students with any valid UK parking permit, including remote (X) permits.

Holiday passes are valid starting Monday, Dec. 11. Vehicles must be moved back to their authorized parking areas by 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8. Those that aren’t moved before that date and time will be assessed a $2 hourly parking fee, with a maximum fee of $16 per day.

The holiday passes must be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle.

Winter storage for bicycles

Those who travel on two wheels can keep their bike under cover at Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library (WWBL) over Winter Break. The Wildcat Wheels shop is located on the first floor of Blazer Dining.

Bikes will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. You must have a UK bicycle permit to participate in the holiday bike storage program. If you don’t already have one, WWBL staff will issue a free permit to you when you drop off your bike.

Wildcat Wheels is currently open 2-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 3-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

The shop will not have regular hours over Winter Break, starting Friday, Dec. 15. However, staff will still be available by appointment.

All bikes need to be picked up after break by Friday, Jan. 26.

If you have questions about vehicle or bike storage, please email UK Transportation Services or call 859-257-5757.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
