Why Are Blue Lights Dotting the Night Sky at UK This Week?

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 12, 2017) If you are seeing blue more than usual this week on the University of Kentucky campus, there's a reason. UK is celebrating December Commencement by lighting the campus blue. 

In honor of all undergraduate and graduate degree candidates, several buildings have special blue lighting at night all this week. The lighting began Sunday and will continue through Friday evening, Dec. 15. Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, at Rupp Arena.

Following are the UK buildings will special lighting this week:

  • Don & Cathy Jacobs Science Building
  • Main Building
  • Gatton Building
  • The 90
  • Johnson Hall
  • Donovan Hall
  • Haggin Hall
  • Jewell Hall
  • Lewis Hall
  • Woodland Glen IV
  • Chellgren Hall
  • Holmes Hall
  • Blazer Hall
