A "Students First" University
You may have missed an important story over the holiday break that I wanted to draw your attention to:
“University of Kentucky officials look for ways to retain, graduate students”
We often talk about UK being a students first institution.
Nothing illustrates our commitment to students more than our work and efforts to help them succeed – academically, socially and professionally.
Recently, within the Provost’s office, we formed an area of emphasis, focusing directly on student success. The idea is to look at the factors that impact student success the most as well as those things that represent obstacles and barriers.
The story above details how the University already uses – and is expanding its focus on – technology in this pivotal process. From helping track and monitor classroom experience to providing timely reminders when students miss tests or need encouragement, technology can be a powerful tool.
We are looking for ways to responsibly expand its use in a technologically advanced world to help our students reach their potential.
It’s one more way we see blue and put our students – always – first.
