UK Women’s Forum to host Lunch and Learn on stress awareness, well-being

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 24, 2025) — The University of Kentucky Women’s Forum will host a Lunch and Learn with Lee Anne Walmsley, Ph.D., in honor of Stress Awareness Month and Move More Month noon-1 p.m. April 24, in Woodward Hall inside the Gatton College of Business and Economics.

Walmsley is an associate professor in the UK College of Nursing, where she also serves as the assistant dean of wellness and well-being. As chair of the College of Nursing Wellness Council, Walmsley is dedicated to fostering a culture of health and resilience within the UK community.

With a distinguished career in nursing, Walmsley has provided direct patient care in a variety of medical-surgical settings, including a neonatal intensive care unit in Birmingham, England. Her passion for education and well-being extends beyond the clinical setting, as she is deeply engaged in supporting adult learners and advancing educational research.

Walmsley is a certified instructor in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, KORU Mindfulness for college-age students, QPR Suicide Prevention and the E3A leadership course with equine partners. As a Fellow of the Center for Interprofessional Health Education, she collaborates with research colleagues to explore psychological well-being, anxiety, suicide prevention and depression.

In celebration of Move More Month and Stress Awareness Month, Walmsley will share her expertise on mindfulness, resilience and holistic well-being at the Women’s Forum Lunch and Learn. Her insights aim to empower all UK faculty and staff with practical strategies to manage stress and enhance overall wellness.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
