LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 27, 2024)  Just like the rest of the human body, the brain changes as it ages. Most people eventually notice some slowed thinking and occasional memory problems. However, serious memory loss, confusion and other major changes in the way the mind works could be a troubling sign that brain cells are failing.

On “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia: A KET Forum,” host Wayne Tuckson, M.D., and panel of medical experts examine the topic of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, discussing the latest science on treatments, screenings and resources. University of Kentucky’s Greg Jicha, M.D., Ph.D., will be featured on the panel. Jicha is the director of clinical trials at UK’s Sanders-Brown Center on Aging.

“Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia: A KET Forum” will air at 8 p.m. EST Sept. 30 on KET. It can also be viewed on-demand at KET.org and on the PBS app. This forum is part of a larger KET initiative called The Next Chapter, which focuses on aging issues and offers a curated collection of programs and resources related to the challenges and rewards of navigating one’s golden years. For more information, visit KET.org/NextChapter. “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia: A KET Forum” and The Next Chapter initiative are funded in part by the KET Endowment for Kentucky Productions.
