VIDEO: Clinical Trials Help Kentuckians Give Back, Stand up to Diseases

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 21, 2013) ― Many who make the decision to be in a clinical trial say participation is power.

Last week, UKNow explored some myths surrounding clinical trials.  In today's video, viewers will learn about the potential benefits clinical trial participants experience.   This is the third part of an in-depth video series on UKNow, which examines clinical research at the University of Kentucky.

UK researchers, along with clinical trial participants, explain how clinical trials provide access to cutting-edge treatment, the latest health care knowledge, and care by top providers. Participants will also discuss their feelings of personal satisfaction derived from helping advance science.

Watch the video above as a healthy participant explains the value of discovering vital personal health information, while a patient fighting cancer describes the feeling of learning a trial helped treat her disease.  You'll also learn how to get involved in clinical trials and what you need to think about before deciding to participate.

The fourth video of this five-part series will be released next Thursday, March 28, on UKNow.  To view the other videos in this series, click on the playlist below.
