Spring Entrepreneurs Bootcamp 2.0 to Launch Thursday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 8, 2019) — On the heels of its very successful Fall Bootcamp, Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship (VACE), part of the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, is proud to announce the pilot launch of its Spring 2019 Entrepreneurs Bootcamp 2.0 on Thursday, Jan. 10. The kickoff event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., at the UK Venture Studio, located in Room 124 of the Gatton College Building.
VACE has accepted into Bootcamp 2.0 15 teams whose members either participated in the either the Fall 2018 or 2017 Bootcamps. These teams were selected based on overall performance in the VACE Bootcamp program, which included such factors as meeting Bootcamp milestones, completing incentive pool tasks and the team’s placement in various pitch events throughout the Bootcamp.
Bootcamp 2.0 will be limited to these teams. The description of those teams accepted into Bootcamp 2.0 can be found at: http://vace.uky.edu/venture-studio/BootcampProjects.php.
Bootcamp 2.0 will be “drilling down” into more detail and expanding on many of those concepts/subjects which were covered in previous Bootcamps.
An exciting new aspect of Bootcamp 2.0 will be that all selected teams taking advantage of the program will be required to accept UK undergraduate and/or graduate students to work with the teams on their ideas, technologies, etc. Those students participating in the program/class will be eligible to enroll for three hours of academic credit (B&E/EXP 396/650) which will be offered on a pass/fail basis. In order for UK students to enroll for this valuable experiential learning experience, they must receive prior permission from VACE staff and Gatton faculty.
Additionally, depending on a team’s membership composition, there will be opportunities for some 2.0 Bootcamp teams to participate in several state, regional and national student business plan competitions.
If you would like to know more about enrolling in Bootcamp 2.0, please email warren.nash@uky.edu, adam.evans@uky.edu or mariamgorjian@uky.edu. It is important to note that the last day that a student may add this class is Jan. 15.
