Lexington, Ky. (Sept. 10, 2010) – Knock, knock! The Student Activities Board (SAB) is moving into the residence halls with a brand new program, SAB in the Halls.

SAB is an organization that aims to enhance the college experience by providing students and other members of the campus and local communities with entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends. SAB in the Halls (SITH) is an interactive initiative to have enthusiastic students act as representatives for SAB.

These students will be current hall residence and will be known as SITH representatives. They will hang posters, encourage their peers to attend SAB events and be a resource for information regarding SAB. Each residence hall will have at least one representative who will be selected through an application process. SITH will also offer small SAB events, like yoga classes, that can be attended in small groups in the residence halls.

“SAB has so much to offer to UK. Through this exciting new program, students will be able to walk down the hall and find out about SAB events directly from their peers,” said Chris Goodale, director of the SAB in the Halls committee. “I am eager to see this program implemented on campus because I think it will add tremendously to the student experience.”

SITH is currently accepting applications. Anyone living in a residence hall can apply to be a SITH representative. SAB is looking for applicants that are friendly and personable, committed to achieving personally set goals, able to work well in a team setting and punctual.

Applications are due today, Friday, Sept. 10 and can be found online at www.uksab.org under the “Get Involved- open positions” tab. The application can be submitted online or printed out and turned in to the SAB office, room 203 Student Center.
