LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 21 2009) – Poetry slam duet Dynamic Duo comes to lay the verbal smack down on UK's campus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Center Theater in UK's Student Center.

Panama Soweto and Ken Arkind, members of Dynamic Duo, are known for their high energy live performances with awesome dual voice work, original comedy, and fresh poetry. They are out to prove that poetry can be about whatever you want it to be and that anyone can enjoy it. Their work covers diverse and broad subjects, from politics to video games, depression to comic books and racism to relationships.

Dynamic Duo has performed across the country from the Nuyorican Poets Café in New York and on the West Coast at Da Poetry Lounge, with many other venues in between. They have been on stage with other notable performance poets like The Chicano Messengers of Spoken Word, Mike McGee and Pulitzer Prize winner, Yusef Komunyakaa.

“The Dynamic Duo was really fun to watch because their poetry talked about things that younger people can relate to - Nintendo, Star Wars and the list goes on. They work well together and they play off of each other to create a more memorable poem,” said Student Activities Board (SAB) Vice President of Internal Affairs Katie Ising.

Along with the performance, you may also see Dynamic Duo roaming around campus reciting their poems to generate hype for their performance. This is a free event offered by the Student Activities Board (SAB).
