LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 10, 2013) — Sketches and illustrations from Ice Age and other award-winning animation films will fill the Rasdall Gallery from Thursday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Nov. 1, in its second exhibit of the semester. An opening reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Rasdall Gallery. This exhibit is sponsored by the Student Activities Board Cultural Arts Committee.

De Sève is best known for his illustrations in the Ice Age film franchise, having created the iconic squirrel “Scrat.” He has also worked on films ranging from Mulan and Tarzan to Finding Nemo. Aside from his work in animated films, de Sève has illustrated The New Yorker covers and recently finished a children’s book, created with his wife. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Hamilton King Award from the Society of Illustrators, a Spectrum Annual of Fantastic Art gold medal and an Emmy Award for Oustanding Character Design, among others.

“Peter De Sève is an artist that nearly all of us at UK have been exposed to and know,” said Dado Kocer, SAB director of cultural arts. “This exhibit not only takes us back to our childhood, but brings award-winning, highly recognized illustrations to the heart of our campus.”

The Rasdall Gallery is located in the Student Center and is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
