LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 7, 2026) — Spots remain for middle and high school students to register for University of Kentucky STEM Camps.

Incoming ninth- through 12th-grade students can enroll in Computer Science Camp (June 8-12) and Chem Camp (June 22-26). A few spots are also available for middle school students (rising fifth- through eighth-graders) to participate in STEM Camp (June 22-26). All spots for elementary students are filled.

  • Chem Camp immerses students in investigative lab experiences designed to extend the high school chemistry curriculum, while introducing participants to laboratories and research environments on UK’s campus. No prior chemistry experience is required.
  • Computer Science Camp gives students the opportunity to program multiple types of sensors and develop conditional loop sequences through hands-on challenges. Activities are designed to be appropriately challenging while remaining accessible to beginners; no advanced programming experience is required.
  • STEM Camp for middle school students (rising fifth- through eighth-graders) has a few spots available the week of June 22-26. In this camp, students engage in robotics for half of the day and learn from STEM experts on various topics (e.g. neurology, ecosystems, physics) the other half of the day.

Rregister for camps at: https://education.uky.edu/stem/camp.

Through UK STEM Camps, young students have an early opportunity to picture themselves on a college campus, while building confidence in their abilities to use STEM in future careers and everyday life.

The camps’ hands-on activities are a collaboration among UK’s College of Education, Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences and College of Medicine. Founded in 2010, the camps introduce students to the many possibilities within STEM fields.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
