Gayla 2015 Slated Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 14, 2015) — The University of Kentucky LGBTQ*+Ally family began a week of celebrating its history and its future today.
The 2015 University of Kentucky PRIDE week will be a spectrum of dialogues, socials, engagements and fun through April 18, when the eighth annual GAYla Drag Show and Silent Auction caps off the week. Other events provide educational awareness/outreach through intentional collaborations and support.
Tuesday, April 14, the LGBTQ* will gather at 6 p.m. at the Patterson Office Tower and then join the #TakeBackTheNight march.
GAYla 2015! is slated Saturday, April 18, in the Student Center Grand Ballroom. The event promises to be “bigger, gayer and more fun with nationally recognized performers; student, staff and faculty performers; a silent auction and free food,” said Michael Frazier, LGBTQ*+Ally task force co-chair in the UK Office of Institutional Diversity.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free to students with a canned food donation and $5 for faculty, staff and the public.
