'Sharknado' Will Terrorize Film Series Guests
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2014) – The Late Night Film Series is screening “Jaws” at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and “Someone to Run With” at 7 p.m. and “Sharknado” at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. Also being screened by The Late Night Film Series this week are “Finding Nemo” at 7 p.m. and “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” at 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24. All films are free and viewed in Worsham Theater.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, “Jaws” is the story of Amity, a small island community and the gigantic great white shark that has begun to menace the town. A police chief, a marine scientist and a grizzled fisherman join forces to stop the shark. (Rated PG, 124 minutes).
In “Someone to Run With,” Tamar, an insecure teenage girl, changes her appearance to be unrecognizable and leaves home to embark on a mission involving a loved-one. Asaf, a naïve teenage boy, abandons his summer job at City Hall to embark on his own mission: to take an uncontrollable stray dog from the pound and let it lead him back to its owners to be fined. (Unrated 118 minutes).
A bizarre hurricane swamps Los Angeles, in “Sharknado,” and makes way for nature's deadliest killer to rule ocean, air and land as thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace. (Rated TV-14, 86 minutes).
In “Finding Nemo,” Marlin, an over-protective clownfish, travels all the way to Sydney Harbour in search for his abducted son Nemo. Marlin is accompanied by Dory, a regal tang with short-term memory loss. The duo encounter a variety of sea creatures as Marlin learns to take risks and let Nemo take care of himself. (Rated G, 100 minutes).
As his community undergoes an economic crisis, in “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” self-proclaimed genius Flint decides to test out his latest invention: a machine that turns water into food. But when something goes wrong and the machine ends up in the atmosphere, it starts raining food and the shifty mayor tries to use this as a way to help their community. (Rated PG, 90 minutes).
