Valentines for Kentucky Children's Hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2011) −What better way to show the young patients at Kentucky Children's Hospital that they are loved than by throwing them a Valentine's Day party? The party, hosted by the Lexington Dream Factory will be held on Monday, Feb. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the Lexington Dream Factory to share an afternoon with so many children,” said Jamie Clark, president of the Lexington Dream Factory.  “Valentine’s Day is a fun holiday and a great one to share with a terrific group of kids.”

The Lexington Dream Factory fulfills dreams of children with critical and severe chronic conditions. They rely on volunteer efforts in its operations and in fulfilling dreams.  Because of this, 90 percent of the funds raised go directly to fulfilling dreams.

"The Dream Factory’s Valentine’s Day party at Kentucky Children’s Hospital has become a wonderful tradition, said Judi Martin, CCLS, child life coordinator of Kentucky Children's Hospital. "The nurses, doctors, and other staff look forward to the party as much as the children do. The party is great fun for everyone."

About Kentucky Children's Hospital
Kentucky Children's Hospital was established in 1997, but has been taking care of children since 1960. It was renamed in 2005 to more clearly define its role as the hospital for all of Kentucky’s children. The facility, a hospital within UK Chandler Hospital, houses an inpatient center; a Level III neonatal intensive care unit to take care of the sickest infants; a state-of-the-art pediatric intensive care unit; and a 23-hour admissions/observation center. The building also features children's play and activity rooms, expanded family consultation rooms, a family resource center, waiting rooms, conference rooms and a pediatric staff library. The new Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Center was established last year. For more information about Kentucky Children's Hospital, call 859-257-1121.
