Markey Director To Be Featured on KET Interview
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2011) — Dr. Mark Evers, director of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center will be featured on the KET television interview program "One To One with Bill Goodman" later this month. "One to One" features in-depth interviews with guests drawn from a wide variety of fields, and conversations cover an enormous array of topics. The Markey Cancer Center was established in 1985 and serves over 1,800 new patients each year. One of Markey's leading areas of research is in gastrointestinal cancers, for which it received a national Specialized Program of Research Excellence grant. In addition, Markey has received national recognition for its ovarian cancer screening program. Evers came to Kentucky from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. An internationally recognized gastrointestinal and endocrine surgeon, Evers is also a prolific researcher. A Tennessee native, he completed his residency training in general surgery at the University of Louisville in 1988.
