Sophie's Scramble Benefits Kentucky Children's Hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 10, 2010) – Sophie's Scramble, a golf tournament, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Connemara Golf Course, 2327 Lexington Road, Nicholasville. Sophie Gives Back is an organization that raises money for the families of the Kentucky Children's Hospital neonatal intensive care unit. This year, the scramble will benefit families of patients in the NICU who need food vouchers.

The funds are being raised in memory of Sophia Caroline Routt, who passed away at two months old.  She had been a patient at in the NICU. Sophie’s parents, Katherine (Fields) and Chad Routt, were moved by the needs of the families there.

"Sophie was a strong, inspirational child whose life was much too short," said Katherine Routt.

Registration is $60 and each participant will receive a sleeve of balls. Prizes will be awarded to top performers and the entry fee includes a meal at the end of the scramble.

Registration procedures include: sign up as an individual or with friends up to a team of four; if there is not a complete team, individuals will be matched with others; entry fee checks should be made payable to “Sophie Gives Back” and for every $100 minimum sponsor recruited for the scramble, the entry fee will be reduced by $15.
