VIDEO: President Capilouto, Wildcat Family Share Back-to-School Advice

LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 22, 2018) — It's the first day of the academic year at the University of Kentucky! Below is a message to the UK campus from President Eli Capilouto:

Dear campus,

The University of Kentucky campus has sprung to life once more as we welcomed students over the last few weeks.

It was a productive summer for the UK family, filled with important milestones, including: the May 2018 graduating class; new opportunities and grants for our research and health care enterprise; new spaces for our campus to learn, work, and grow; and new academic programs across the state.

There is something particularly inspiring about a college campus at the start of a new academic year.

As our students settle in and faculty and staff prepare for classes, several members of the UK family collaborated on some advice for our students who are starting or continuing their college journeys. Their advice, shared in the video above, is a reminder that our campus is a community committed to the shared success and belonging of everyone.

We are excited to begin what we expect to be a historic year for the University of Kentucky. On the horizon are important announcements that will further transform the academic, research, health care, and service missions of the University. We look forward to the individual and collective achievements and ingenuity of our students, faculty, and staff.

Thank you for all that you do to shape and contribute to our campus. Welcome back.

Eli Capilouto

President
