LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 12, 2025) — The University of Kentucky Police Department (UKPD) has officially relocated into its new headquarters at 152 Transcript Ave., enhancing its ability to serve the campus community with improved accessibility, updated facilities and space for expanded safety operations.

Although its location has changed, UKPD’s commitment to serving the university community remains the same.

UKPD continues to offer the same services and you can reach UKPD using the same communication channels:

  • Emergency: Dial 911 or #UKPD from any cell phone
  • Nonemergency: Dial 859-257-UKPD (8573)
  • Download the SafeZone App: Call for emergency help, submit anonymous tips or request a virtual police escort using the “Check-In” feature

“We look forward to growing into our new facility as we continue our mission to promote a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors at the university,” UKPD Police Chief Joe Monroe said. “This move reflects our ongoing commitment and investment in the safety of our campus community.”

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
