Employee and Retiree Parking Permit Renewal Begins Feb. 22

LEXINGTON, KY. (Feb. 22, 2012) – Beginning today, University of Kentucky Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) will accept employee and retiree parking permit renewal applications for permits that expire March 31, 2012. University of Kentucky (UK) and Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) employees are encouraged to renew their permits at www.uky.edu/pts. Employees may also apply for permit renewal via campus mail, by using printable forms found at www.uky.edu/pts or in person at Parking and Transportation Services, 721 Press Avenue (Parking Structure #6). Office hours for permit sales are 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Veterans Affairs Medical Center employees and UK retirees may only apply for permits by mail or in person. These groups will receive application materials at work and via mail, respectively. Printable forms are also available at www.uky.edu/pts.
2012-2013 parking permits must be displayed no later than April 1. Employees are encouraged to renew their permits as early as possible, so as to ensure delivery by March 31. The online application will be available until March 26, 2012.
Both employee and retiree permits will remain the same price for the 2012-2013 permit year. Retirees who retired from the University prior to July 1, 1995, are eligible for permits at no cost.
All outstanding parking citations must be paid before a permit application is accepted. Citations may be paid online at www.uky.edu/pts.
Eligible UK and BCTC employees may payroll deduct permit fees on a pre-tax basis. Pre-tax registration forms must be completed each year and can be completed online during the permit application process. For those who apply by mail or forget to apply for pre-tax deduction during the online application process, the form is available at www.uky.edu/pts/online-services_pretax-deduction-enrollment. UK Retirees and VA employees are not eligible for the pre-tax exemption.
To complete an online application, applicants should have on hand their correct home or work address and a Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover if not eligible for payroll deduction. UK employees must have their link blue login and password; BCTC employees must use their KCTCS username and password.
The 2012-2013 permit features a number of physical changes from previous years’ designs. Perhaps the most important one to note from a practical standpoint is that the gate access barcodes have been moved to the back of the permit only. This allows for larger surface area on the front to support the new design, while also enabling the permit number to be more visible on the permit. Employees and retirees parking in gated lots and structures should be sure to swipe the permit with the barcode facing up. Other changes to the permit design include the integration of a photo and the introduction of a dedicated color for each user type; the colors will be carried over to campus parking maps.
